Using 'Web 2.0' Tools?

There are lots of useful 'Web 2.0' tools around and many of them can be used for learning and teaching. However, before doing so there are a number of issues you need to be aware of. LIS have produced a series of questions that you need to ask before using external 'Web 2.0' tools, such as Blogger, Twitter and Facebook; particularly if you plan to use them in learning and teaching.

Practical guide: bringing together e-learning and student retention

Recently published by Middlesex University in conjunction with the Higher Education Academy.

Bringing together the areas of e-learning and student retention, it provides case studies, practical tips and activities to aid student progression, especially during the first year of study. It is designed to help staff think about ways of approaching and incorporating the use of learning technologies in order to enhance the students’ learning experience.

What is e-learning? You tell us!

For some time the Learning Lab has had an introductory guide to answer the question, 'What is e-learning?' In the past this document has been updated periodically by the e-learning team. However this approach doesn't really take advantage of the knowledge of the rest of the e-learning community. So, from now on the guide will be on the wiki and available for editing, adding to and commenting on. Every few months a new hard copy version with be produced, using the information on the wiki, for those who would like to read it offline.
