Podcasting for Pedagogic Purposes?

The next (free) event organised by the Podcasting for Pedagogic Purposes Special Interest Group will be held at the University of Leicester on Tuesday 24th February.

The keynote speaker will be Professor Gilly Salmon who will provide an update on Leicester’s IMPALA 4 project and further reflections on the 'Podcasting for Learning in Universities' book. There will also be an element of ‘IMPALA meets PPP SIG’ as Andrew Middleton leads a discussion and debate around the topic of ‘what’s podcasting all about’?

This one-day event will also include practically-focused ‘how to’
sessions covering the following:
Designing a podcast;
Creating a podcast: PCs and Audacity
Creating a podcast: Apple Mac and Garage Band

There will also be an ‘open floor’ ‘Curriculum Thunderstorm’
and ‘Digital Media Research Thunderstorm’ session for participants to present on the topic of podcasting in education.

A ‘student experience’ session will feature a group of students presenting their experiences of student-generated podcasts.

To register for this event please contact Carol Comer, Academic Development Adviser (E-Learning), University of Chester (c.comer@chester.ac.uk). The full programme will be available in early January 2009.
